Universiti Malaya (UM) is the oldest and prestigious public research university in Malaysia, located in country’s capital Kuala Lumpur.
It comprises of fourteen faculties, two academies, four institutes and five centres. UM is ranked 60th in the world, 11th in Asia, 3rd in Southeast Asia and the highest ranked in Malaysia.
Faculty of engineering is of the prominent faculty of UM. It has five departments – mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil and biomedical engineering.
Each of these departments is directed towards diverse research and teaching activities focusing on global-regional needs leading to innovation and better future.

Project role

UM activity will focus on investigating and optimizing the thermal and other aspects such as heat transfer phenomenon and waste water treatment applications of ice-templated porous materials.
Research will also incorporate the investigation of size effects of these materials in various applications.
